Half circle skirt with green wave

Another skirt added to my collection, and another project where I was more helping than actually sewing it. Similar to the skirt with a folk embroidery, this skirt’s pattern was drafted by me but it was sewn by my friend – Ania.

The skirt was made of a semi-circle, and the bottom is sewn along an irregular, curvy line. I think that this skirt’s design is very feminine and suitable for almost every silhouette and age.

Making a buttonhole on the narrow and thick belt was challenging – a buttonhole foot couldn’t do it, so I made it the “old way”. The bottom edge of the belt is finished with a ribbon trim, which stabilizes a little of the fabric’s stretch. The side seams are pressed open – before I met Ania I always pressed the side seams toward the back, but this way they lay nice and flat against the body. The bottom of the skirt was pressed and hand stitched.

How do you like it? Do you like wearing circle / half-circle skirts?
