knitted dress, mehndi print on a blue background

Blue and gray knitted dress

I recently sewed my first knitted dress – I was missing a casual, comfy dress in my closet. I wanted the dress to be rather loosely fitted but not baggy, because these kinds of clothes don’t look good on me. I didn’t want to disturb the print on the fabric with cuts, so I ended up with darts – which might not have been the best idea, they were quite difficult to sew. If I were to sew it again I would definitely make a princess cut – in spite of my concerns, the cuts would totally disappear against the noisy background 🙂

The neckline is finished with a neckband, and I used coverstitch to hem the sleeves and the bottom of the dress. This was the first test of my coverstitch sewing machine on an actual project (not on fabric scraps) and I must admit that I’m very happy with it. I still have to work on nice and clean finishing interiors of my knitted clothes, but I think that it will come naturally as I get acquainted better with the machine.
